McCann nabs execs from WPP unit in Australia

[Sydney, Australia] Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann Worldgroup, Australia's seventh-largest agency network, has revitalized its management in that market by poaching several senior execs at WPP Group's Singleton Ogilvy & Mather. Sydney-based Chris Mort is now chairman-CEO of McCann Worldgroup, which includes the McCann Erickson ad agency, the Universal McCann media arm, the customer-relationship-management specialist MRM Partners and McCann Healthcare. Previously, Mr. Mort was CEO of Singleton Ogilvy & Mather. Executive Creative Director Mike Thomas and Director-Business Strategy Helen Karabassis both held the same positions at Singleton Ogilvy & Mather, while Ron Taylor, now McCann's director-business operations, was previously chief operating officer of Singleton Ogilvy & Mather as well as STW Communications Group, a holding company of marketing-communication agencies in Australia including WPP's interests in Australia as well as non-WPP companies. As a result of these changes, Neil Ross, managing director, McCann Erickson, Sydney, will be leaving the agency.
