VW partners with DDB venture in South Korea

By Published on .

[Seoul, South Korea] Germany's Volkswagen has appointed DDB Worldwide's joint-venture operation in South Korea as its strategic creative partner. The Omnicom Group agency works with VW in 26 other markets already, but the win followed a four-way pitch between the incumbents, Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide ad agency and G2 brand-development consultancy; two independent Korean agencies, aL Communication and Doors Advertising; and Lee & DDB in Seoul, which collaborated with DDB offices in Tokyo, Berlin, London and Auckland, New Zealand. The appointment includes all VW brands in South Korea, but the pitch focused on four key models-New Beetle, New Beetle Cabriolet, Golf and Touareg. VW's media-buying business in South Korea was not included in the review; it remains with Grey's MediaCom division.
