In last week's chart tallying the top TV shows on entertainment check-in service GetGlue, "Fringe" took our No. 8 spot. This week it sneaks into the top half of our Top 10. Scroll down below the graphic for more notes and context.
- As we noted last week, Fox just renewed "Fringe," a show that 's no ratings blockbuster, but has very social-media-savvy fans. And now it's experiencing a surge of chatter and check-ins driven not only by its new lease on life (for a fifth and final season) but its imminent season finale -- which will surely be a cling-hanger of some sort. "Fringe" gains three spots in our ranking, moving up to No. 5 with 49,481 check-ins (16,621 more than last time).
- Remember when "The Big Bang Theory" used to pretty much always take the No. 1 spot in our chart? "Nikita" fans, who are especially active on GetGlue, seem intent on permanently deposing "Big Bang" from the top of the heap. Once again, the top three spots in our chart are occupied by "Nikita," "Big Bang" and "Game of Thrones," in that order.
- Fox's "New Girl," which hasn't been on our chart since February, takes the No. 10 spot, edging out its network sibling, "American Idol." But keep in mind that "Idol" -- which just revealed its final four surviving contestants (Joshua Ledet, Hollie Cavanagh, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez) -- still beats out NBC's "The Voice" (which does make our chart, taking the No. 9 spot) in the ratings .
