In last week's chart tallying the top TV shows on entertainment check-in service GetGlue, "Nikita" clung to the top spot by a thread as summer premieres flooded the check-ins chart. This week, it was finally bested. Scroll down below the graphic for more notes and context.
- After eight consecutive weeks at the top of the TV check-ins chart, the CW's "Nikita" has finally been dethroned by another genre favorite with a cult following: "True Blood" ruled this week with its fifth season premiere Sunday night, clocking more than 160,000 check-ins. Ratings -wise, the episode was down 4% from last season's premiere, with 5.2 million viewers tuning in to catch up with their favorite Bon Temps residents, according to Nielsen. Keep your necks covered and your eyes open -- this week likely marks just the beginning of a summer-long stint on the chart, as the show will run through the end of August.
- The other big victor on the chart this week was AMC linchpin "Mad Men," which finished up its packed fifth season Sunday night with series-high ratings for a finale, up 15% from last season's closer. The show did even better socially, more than doubling its check-ins from the week before and climbing five spots on the chart.
- It wouldn't be summer without Gordon Ramsey's total TV takeover -- and as we've learned this week, social TV is no exception. Two Fox shows featuring the hot-tempered celebrity chef made the chart this week -- his original hit "Hell's Kitchen " at no. 8 and "Masterchef" at no. 10. This reflects the shows' ratings performance -- the two shows both air Mondays, with "Hell's Kitchen " actually winning the broadcast night last week.
- Finally, the return of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" certainly made its mark on the chart Wednesday night, landing at a solid No. 6. Ratings -wise, the teen mystery drama is No. 1 for females 12-34, and also the no. 1 scripted show in women 18-34. Expect to see this show claw its way up the chart as its scandalous third season progresses.
