In last week's chart tallying the top TV shows on entertainment check-in service GetGlue, "Nikita" broke the record for total TV check-ins. This week, its fan-driven campaign (finally) lost major steam. Scroll down below the graphic for more notes and context.
- HBO's "True Blood" reclaimed its spot at the top of the chart this week, albeit with roughly 95,000 fewer check-ins than the last time it was No. 1, the week its new season began. It has recently been battling the CW's "Nikita" for the most check-ins -- without much luck. But since the super fans of "Nikita" reached their goal of making the spy drama the first to 3 million cumulative check-ins last week, the campaign seems to have lost steam.
- Showtime's "Weeds" made its first appearance on the TV check-ins chart, fueled by its eighth and final season premiere July 1. The cable broadcast earned just over 800,000 viewers, and fans clearly had lots to talk about. It was the first new episode since its prior season concluded in September.
- This week saw the first Olympics-related broadcasts to land on the chart, in the form of the Olympic trials in swimming and gymnastics events. Expect to see much more Olympics coverage on the chart as the summer progresses.
- The precipitous drop on check-ins for TNT's big summer shows continued into this week, when both "Dallas" and "Falling Skies" fell completely off the chart. Despite small ratings declines, both are still performing relatively well for basic cable on their respective nights. "Dallas" also was renewed for a 15-episode second season last week, so we may see more of it on the chart as it develops its following.
