Anheuser-Busch Draws Yellow Card in Germany
Budweiser has beer and soccer lovers crying, "Blasphemy!" over its sponsorship of this year's World Cup tournament in Germany. Roger Boyes reports that the King of Beers is usurping roughly 1,270 domestic breweries in and around the stadiums. Not too shabby for a brew that, because it uses rice in its brewing process, doesn't even count as beer in the German sense of the term. A-B paid for its sponsorship before Germany was picked as the World Cup site, but that isn't influencing opinion. One politician told The Times that Budweiser is "the worst beer in the world."

Search numbers called it for Taylor Hicks
Bill Tancer, general manager of global research at online-measurement company Hitwise, took a look at the tea leaves (in this case, the search results) and came up with an "America Idol" prediction. Taylor Hicks was going to win. Hicks not only had more Internet searches overall, but most of the searches had to do with his performances and his music. Competitor Katharine McPhee, on the other hand? Many of the searches conducted for her had less to do with music and more to do with physical appearance and a supposed wardrobe malfunction. This time the search results didn't lie.
