Asterpix Unveils Taggable Videos

By Sergio Published on .

Interactive video startup Asterpix announced a new automated in-video tagging technology meant to help make clips easier to find on the Web. Asterpix’s “Hypervideo” is a Web-based service that inserts into video clips interactive “hotspots” that carry searchable tags, links and a recommendation algorithm. A hotspot attached to video of a dancing bride, for instance, tracks her movement in the video, then adds a host of clickable links based on keywords such as “dancing” and “bride,” producing wedding Web sites, waltz videos, even the IMDB page for “Dirty Dancing.” The technology aims to help users find the content they’re interested in, and to help content producers and advertisers find their audience. Asterpix looks to compete with other companies such as Videoclix.
