Chinese Companies Get Permission for Web Video

Nearly 250 firms got permission from Chinese regulators for online video-sharing services, Daily Variety reports. Earlier in the year, some two dozen Chinese video-sharing companies were ordered to shut down their operations. China’s three most popular Web sites—Tudou.com, Youku.com and 56.com—were not among the 247 to receive the new licenses, however.
