. Video sites that attract an audience of 18- to 34-year-old women command the highest prices, he said. Kadambi, whose company represents content owners and sells ads into the segments, said three factors determine ad prices: Whether the content is popular, whether it’s branded by a content creator that people know, and whether the material is delivered across multiple media. Video banners draw better prices than static banners, and hot sites can charge “tens of dollars” for banners on a cost-per-thousand basis, he said. Overlay ads are usually sold on a combination of a CPM and a cost-per-click basis, he said, and they are generating higher prices than banners.
