Judge Throws Out Viacom Suit Against YouTube

By Sergio Published on .

A federal judge decided YouTube and its parent company Google do not have to pay $1 billion in punitive damages to Viacom, NewTeeVee reports. The judge denied Viacom’s claim, made in a lawsuit last year. Viacom may still sue for copyright violations of content used on YouTube without permission. Each violation may range from $750 to $150,000, based on severity and willfulness.
