NBC Chooses Exclusivity for Olympics

2,200 hours of Coverage on NBCOlympics.com Only

By Published on .

When the Beijing Olympics start Aug. 8, they will be the first "online video" Games, with NBC's 2,200 hours of live Web coverage. Those hours will be available online only at NBCOlympics.com—not on Hulu.com or even NBC.com. That's because the network paid $894 million to land the rights to the Games and doesn't want to have to split any of the ad revenue it will generate on TV or online. The network isn't breaking down ad revenue projections by medium but said it expects to bring in $1 billion in ad revenue across all platforms.
