NBC Direct Readies for Release, Hulu Keeps It Short

By Sergio Published on .

NBC Universal is rumored to be planning a release of its video download service, NBC Direct, by the end of this quarter, PaidContent says. The news comes from Pando Networks, the P2P provider in charge of NBC Direct’s distribution. Hulu, the NBC Universal-News Corp. joint venture video-sharing site, is also slated to be released around the same time, though neither service has announce specific dates. Hulu CEO Jason Kilar recently said that in order to maximize the way online video ads reach consumers it is important to keep spots short, MediaWeek notes. Kilar spoke at the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s annual conference in Phoenix, where he said Hulu’s concern was delivering premium content while maintaining a positive user experience. Kilar mentioned that watching programs on Hulu is not like watching TV and that long and repetitive commercials can drive users away.
