Online TV Homes to Double in 2007

By Staff Published on .

Internet Protocol Television, known as IPTV, will reach 10.6 million homes in 2007, double the 2006 figure, Daily Variety says, citing a study by Informa Telecoms and Media. By 2012, 38.4 million homes worldwide will get the technology. Most of the growth will come from service launches in Europe, according to the study. IPTV sends TV shows to users over the Web using broadband connections, rather than traditional delivery methods like cable or broadcast signals.
