RealNetworks Sales Leaps on Tech Products

RealNetworks, maker of the RealPlayer video player, reported revenue of $145.1 million, up 55 percent over a year ago. Profit fell to $4.3 million from $42.2 million a year ago, when one-time items boosted results. James Quintana Pearce reports that RealNetworks’ technology products and solutions business increased revenue more than fourfold, mainly because of the acquisition of WiderThan, which sells ringtones, music on demand and other mobile entertainment.
