Sony Puts Shambroom in Charge of Crackle

By Sergio Published on .

Crackle.com, the Sony Pictures Television-owned online video site, today named Jonathan Shambroom senior vice president and general manager as part of a restructuring within the company, TVWeek.com reports. According to a Crackle spokesperson, Shambroom’s promotion is part of a redistribution of duties within the company’s management. There is no word yet on how the move relates to Crackle’s current presidents and co-founders Josh Felser and Dave Samuel. Valleywag is reporting that the company laid off eight of its 60 employees today. Crackle was formerly known as Grouper, a media-sharing site that specialized in Web videos. Sony Pictures Entertainment purchased Grouper in August 2006 and rebranded it as Crackle last July.
