TV Talent Exploiting Web Video

By Staff Published on .

Weird Al Yankovic, whose parodies have been a staple on MTV and other traditional TV outlets for decades, is enjoying a resurgence of popularity using Web video as a medium, Variety says in a news feature. The performer’s last single, “White and Nerdy,” a send up of hip hop artists Chamillionaire’s hit “Ridin,’” scored 50 million views on the three biggest video sites alone. Variety also gives an update on “Saturday Night Live” alum site FunnyorDie.com, which hit big with its “The Landlord” series. The venture now has a staff of six in Los Angeles, offshoot sites including ShredorDie.com and a standup tour starts in spring.
