Web Video Investment Reaches $8 Bil, No Profit Yet

In the three years since YouTube was founded, the overall online video business has generated more than $8 billion in U.S. investments alone, according to Silicon Alley Insider, which crunched numbers from Dow Jones VentureSource. Those numbers include investments in infrastructure, ad platforms, service providers and content, topped by the $1.65 billion Google spent on YouTube. None of the companies is probably profitable yet, the study said.
