DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group announced its lineup of 2002 models last week and dropped prices 0.9%, even on new models such as the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The cuts are part of Chrysler's strategy to fight slumping sales and increasing competition from Japan; Toyota Motor Sales USA, Nissan North America and Mitsubishi Motor Sales America all are breaking large new ad efforts to promote 2002 models. The stock market slump took its toll on the AdMarket last week; 48 stocks were down and only two were up.
