Dow Jones & Co. led newspaper stocks lower after reporting first quarter ad linage would trail last year's strong results by 25% to 30% on a per issue basis. Gannett Co. and Knight Ridder shares fell 2% or more. Dow Jones said it expects to earn 16 cents to 20 cents per share in the quarter, compared to 88 cents a year earlier. An unspecified number of job cuts are planned. In trading Friday, Dow Jones closed at $55.04, off 9.32% for the week (off 2.8% for 2001 to date).
