The high-powered agency executive is wearing what she describes as "a frou-frou tie," but Ms. DiSesa, 52, who last November became chairman of McCann-Erickson Worldwide's New York office, is still a creative at heart.
"Nothing will take me away from the creative. If I wasn't involved in the [agency's] creative, I couldn't get up in the morning," says Ms. DiSesa, who played a key role in the turnaround of the New York office.
"The great thing about Nina is she lets people do what they do best. That is rare," says Douglas Toews, exec VP-ideas and image for Coty and a former McCann creative.
She says she swears by the benefits of cooperation among all teams in the agency.
"If people feel confident and people feel unafraid, they will take joy out of other people's success," she says. "Our competition is outside this office."
McCann has been trouncing the competition lately. The agency is flush with the wins of Gateway, Sprint Corp., Du Pont Co. and others. Now, all -- creatives and others -- are loosening their ties and facing the challenge of turning those accounts into memorable campaigns.
