his season, A&E presents a flow of new series and special projects with contemporary themes, engaging storytelling and fascinating personalities. We're attracting younger viewers and connecting with the better-educated baby boomer, keeping our finger on the pulse of popular culture. At the core of what we do is the Art of Entertainment—programming with the quality and integrity A&E has always stood for as the leader in Biography, Documentary and Drama.
Biography
The Emmy-winning "Biography" series is considered the "must-do" show for top names in film, TV, politics and society. This year, the essence of "Biography" will once again be captured through the lens of world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. And viewers will enjoy a lineup of great premieres, including Brad Pitt, Bette Midler, Richard Gere, The Olsen Twins and many more.
In addition to big-name profiles, specials include "Child Stars," "Frank Sinatra and the Mob," "Viva Las Vegas" and the annual favorite—"Biography of the Year," our countdown to the person who had the most impact on our world.
Real-Life Series
We've coined a new phrase for a new genre of programs—"real-life" series—a glimpse into the world of complex people and the drama surrounding their lives.
"Airline" launched in January to great reviews, instantly became a hit with viewers and will return for a second season. April saw the successful premiere of the groundbreaking series "Family Plots." Upcoming series already generating buzz include "Growing Up Gotti" about Victoria Gotti—author, mother of three teenage boys…and daughter of John Gotti. "Dog The Bounty Hunter" will follow the unique life of Dwayne "Dog" Chapman as he mixes a high-stakes job, a combustible marriage and fatherhood to 12 children in a series with big personality.
Other new prime real-life series include: "The First 48"—a race against the clock during the initial critical hours of a police investigation; "Celebrity Ink"—tales of a Vegas tattoo parlor that caters to the stars; "Family Forensics"—revealing the secrets uncovered in a family's home.

These new series will join our returning gold standards, "American Justice," "Cold Case Files" and "City Confidential," which continue to tell heart-wrenching human dramas honestly and directly.
The schedule also includes a variety of topical and timely documentary specials, including "In Harm's Way," and cultural reflections—"Hollywood Home Movies," "Poor Little Rich Kids" and "The Making of Star Wars." And our popular concert series, "Live By Request" and "A&E In Concert," return with more of music's biggest icons.
The Art of Drama
Great drama remains at the heart of A&E. This season, our original series "MI5," the sexy, action-packed espionage drama, returns with all-new episodes. And the hugely successful "CSI Miami" debuts, joining the returning "Third Watch" and "Crossing Jordan."
This season's slate of original movies is our most ambitious ever, with a diverse mix, delivering the quality that viewers expect from A&E. "See Arnold Run" charts Arnold Schwarzenegger's career from body builder to movie star to governor. Christopher Reeve directs "The Brooke Ellison Story," about a young quadriplegic woman's triumphant graduation from Harvard. "Hillary's Choice" is the dramatic story of the famous senator and former First Lady. "Chess Mates" recounts the heart-tugging true story of an inner-city teacher who inspires his students to compete and win. "Forever Barbie: The Ruth Hendler Story" profiles the woman who invented one of the greatest icons of the 20th century, and "The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn" reveals the secrets of one of British Royalty's biggest icons.
Finally, look for the theatrical films people talk about and want to see, like "Gosford Park," "In the Bedroom," "Chocolat" and "Monster's Ball," making their broadcast and basic cable premieres on A&E. |
