CI FI Channel continues to grow in leaps and bounds, currently reaching nearly 80 million homes with its imaginative, original programming. The Channel, a program service of Universal Television Networks, a division of Vivendi Universal Entertainment, is well poised to capitalize on its recent successes.

SCI FI is currently television's hottest channel, boasting 12 consecutive months of year–to–year ratings growth,* the most of any channel, broadcast or cable. SCI FI's slate of critically acclaimed original productions—including "Steven Spielberg Presents TAKEN," the biggest miniseries event in television history—have catapulted the Channel to where it is today.

The Channel boasts established original hits like "Stargate SG–1" and new original shows like "Tremors: The Series" and "Scare Tactics," both of which premiered to record–setting ratings. Additionally, SCI FI has made a name for itself with special movie and miniseries events, including the Emmy Award–winning "Frank Herbert's Dune," "Steven Spielberg Presents TAKEN," "Frank Herbert's Children of Dune" and "Riverworld." A highly anticipated four–hour "re–imagining" of the classic "Battlestar Galactica" series will make its premiere in December.

The coming year promises even more impressive gains. SCI FI will double its dramatic series programming with a dozen new shows in development. These include "Dead Lawyers" (where several unscrupulous lawyers are brought back from the dead to redeem themselves by righting the wrongs they committed) and "The

Divide" (a series about a bogus radio psychic who discovers his true abilities when he and the ghost of his twin sister investigate unsolved mysteries). Also in development is a full lineup of alternative reality series such as "Mad Mad House" (where a few regular Joes cohabitate with six people living on the edge) and "Life on Mars" (a high–octane/low–oxygen survival series). Two miniseries events are also on their way to SCI FI—"6 Days 'til Sunday" and a re–make of John Carpenter's "The Thing." Add to that 22 original Saturday night action movies, such as "Dragon Storm" and Bruce Campbell's "Man with the Screaming Brain," and the Channel's first animated series, "Tripping the Rift," and viewers have never had more reasons to watch.

In a nod to science fiction's literary heritage, SCI FI also has a number of miniseries in the works based on genre classics. In development are Ursula LeGuin's "Earthsea Trilogy," Kim Stanley Robinson's "Red Mars" and Joe Haldeman's "The Forever War." A sci–fi take on Charles Dickens' "Tale of Two Cities" is also planned.

With new brand positioning, powerful new programming and the No. 1 sci–fi site on the Web (www.scifi.com), SCI FI is ready for its most exciting year yet.
