Sarah Silverman and the Great Schlep for Barack Obama

Jewish Grandchildren Encouraged to Visit Florida, Educate Grandparents

In this effort from Jewish Council for Education and Research, Sarah Silverman is enlisted to encourage Jewish grandchildren to visit their grandparents in Florida to educate them about Barack Obama. Created by Droga5, it's called The Great Schlep. If Obama isn't elected, says Silverman, she'll blame the Jews. (Perhaps she's referring to Obama's perceived Jewish problem.) Be warned. Video contains expletives.

If Obama isn't elected I'll blame supporters like Silverman, Sandra Bernhardt, and all the other Doctor Dementos who are forever popping off.

After all, Sarah isn't exactly the kind of granddaughter bubbie would hug. In general, she's just a potty-mouthed Jewish American Princess, but without the royalty. My nanny-in-law would have gotten her a motel room on South Beach just so she wouldn't embarrass the elders around the Canasta table at the resort.

It has been a long time since I was last in New York, but hearing Sarah brings a lot of it back. Not content with making politics the topic of choice with all of her friends and acquaintances and anyone else misfortunate enough to bump into her, she has gone new media. So what she is really saying is that middle-aged and elderly Jews are bigots? Is has to be that because if there was ever a huge voting block dedicated to doing their civic duty it is this group. She should have been more Jerry Seinfeld and less princess. Issues, what issues, come on, we are all really just democrats even if we distrust black people. Not that I'm saying that. No, I believe everyone should be heard, even Sarah.

Her peak comedy moment came when she reminisced about her youth and shared with all the time she tried to fart and ended up defacating in her pants.
Her blackface routine also was a riot.
But she could be of great help to McCain, as Michael Moore was to Bush in 2004.
In this effort, she manages to condescend to at least four groups.

If you're using Sarah Silverman, shouldn't you do something funny?

Just wondering.

Hey, I love Sarah's agitprop performance! In her hilarious video urging young Jews for Obama to work on their grandparents, though, she says that Baruch means "lightning." It doesn't. It means "blessed." If you don't believe me, check out this wonderful article by David Scheim in the Washington Post (August 28):

It's well researched, with enough stuff about Obama's name to impress grandparents of other faiths as well!
