BEIJING (AdAgeChina.com) -- Ogilvy & Mather kept the top spot among creative agencies last month with wins including digital marketing for Adidas in China and creative for Shandong Jinyu Real Estate Development Co.
M&C Saatchi held on to the No. 2 spot last month after winning business from Japanese advertisers like Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co, which makes energy drink Pocari Sweat. After picking up creative accounts for brands like Chrysler and Carlsberg in China, Saatchi & Saatchi moved up seven spots to the No. 3 ranking, said Greg Paull, a principal at independent marketing consultancy R3 in Beijing. Big wins in China in early 2010 have allowed PHD and Carat to keep the top two spots once again this month among media agencies. ZenithOptimedia also held on to the No. 3 ranking with new business from Reckitt Benckiser last month. MEC moved into fourth position after picking up media assignments from Chrysler and IKEA.
The ranking is based on 2010 wins through the end of March. R3 compiles agency account wins in China each month for Ad Age China. The new business tally is based on data supplied by 26 multinational agencies on a monthly basis. The data is compared to advertisers' estimates and Nielsen's ad spend figures, discounted to appropriate levels and converted to a revenue estimate.
