BEIJING (AdAgeChina.com) -- Baidu.com's dominance of China's internet search market has made the Nasdaq-listed company the world's second most popular search engine after Google and ahead of Yahoo, according to U.S. research company ComScore.
In June 2009, Baidu had a 6.9% share of the global search engine market, trailing Google at 68.9%, but ahead of Yahoo with a 6.5% share, and Microsoft (2.3%).
In China, Baidu's share of the local search engine market rose to 75.7% in the second quarter of this year, up 1.6% from the previous quarter. The market share of Google.cn fell to 19.8% during the same period, according to the Chinese consulting firm iResearch.
