Chinese Car Sales Will Grow Nearly 9% to 10 Million Units

Last month, 1.153 million vehicles were sold in China, a monthly record, as positive government measures such as reduced taxes and renewed consumer confidence have driven demand.

Chinese auto companies are expected to sell more the 10 million unit this year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, which raised its forecast for this year's car sales to 10.2 million units, an 8.7% year-on-year growth increase.

Earlier this year, the association predicted sales would grow 5% in 2009. Passenger-car sales are expected to grow 10.2%, while commercial vehicle sales will increase 5%.
