Luxury-goods spending in China topped $1 billion last year

China's luxury goods market reached $1.145 billion in 2007, accounting for 18% of global sales. More than 300 tons of gold jewelry a year is sold in China, second only to India. Of the world's top luxury brands, 80% have already entered China.
