Total revenue for online games in China reached RMB 11.35 billion ($1.56 billion) in 2007, up 74.6% from the previous year, according to CCID Consulting. A number of large online game companies such as Kingsoft, Perfect World, NetDragon and Giant Interactive did successful IPOs. In 2008, China's online game market will stay hot. Free rather than fee-based games will be the future trend, and new revenue models will be developed such as online advertising.
