By Published on .

More than 150 million Chinese are expected to travel during the first week of May. The holiday, which celebrates International Workers' Day in Communist China, is one of three annual "golden weeks" in the mainland, alongside the Lunar New Year and the first week of October, which commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The three holidays generated a total of $19.4 billion in tourism-related revenues last year.
