Urban incomes in China have reached $5,000 a year in first-tier cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. As incomes rise in China, “Chuppies” or Chinese Yuppies, are at the forefront of China's growing middle class and spending boom. Many use their savings to buy homes, cars, and invest in stocks and bonds.
