Dongfeng Motor Corp., a leading domestic auto maker, last week started selling its first car under its own brand.

The compact sedan sells for between 75,800 and 99,800 RMB ($11,098 to $14,612). Known as the Aelus S30, the car is built at Dongfeng's passenger vehicle plant in Wuhan in central China. Dongfeng plans to launch a hatchback version this year.

Li Chunfrong, Dongfeng's VP in charge of sales and marketing, said the car will only be sold on the domestic market for now. Overseas car dealers are interested in selling the Aelus S30 outside China, but Dongfeng doesn't have a plan yet for marketing the vehicle overseas, he said.
