Ms. Wang will oversee CNBC's ad sales and marketing for China, primarily by working with its local partners such as Shanghai Media Group (SMG), to market CNBC-related programs on SMG's wholly-owned subsidiary, China Business News. She will also promote CNBC's global business news network to China-based advertisers such as Bank of China. In her new role, she succeeds Vincent Yu, who left the company.

Most recently, Ms. Wang was VP of sponsorship and advertising sales and general manager of Viacom's representative office in Shanghai, overseeing the sales and client services team for its channels such as MTV Networks.

She also led efforts to boost revenue growth at Viacom such as developing relationships with local media companies to do events and co-promotions. Like CNBC, Viacom co-produces localized programming with Chinese media companies including Shanghai Media Group.

Before that, she was based in Beijing as managing director, China of English First, a international network of language schools.
