Jennifer Tan Becomes CEO, China Following Departure of Jennifer Labus, and Shannon Dix Returns

SHANGHAI ( -- The independent creative shop Nitro Group has promoted Jennifer Tan to CEO, China, effective January 2009.

She will succeed Jennifer Labus, currently Nitro's joint managing director and head of client services for China. Ms. Labus is leaving China to take a new role with Nitro based in Europe as global business growth director.

Previously, Ms. Tan was managing partner and exec creative director, Greater China. She will continue to lead the agency's creative team but in her new position she will also oversee the strategic planning department as well as the agency's overall direction.

Ms. Tan has worked at Nitro, a global, Shanghai-based agency network, for four years. Before joining the agency, she was creative director of Clemenger Harvie Edge in Melbourne.

Nitro has also rehired Shannon Dix, who returns to the agency in Shanghai as general manager after a two-year absence to complete an MBA program in Australia. He will oversee Nitro's account management teams, finance and administration in China. He first joined Nitro in Taiwan in 2004.

Nitro has also hired Claudio Barreto as head of planning, starting in January 2009. Previously, he was creative planning director, McCann-Erickson in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After just five months at Nitro, WeiWei Chen has resigned from the agency to take a role at an unnamed agency.
