She reports to Simon Woodward, who was appointed UM's China CEO in early 2010. The media agency works with marketers in Greater China such as Cathay Pacific Airways, Microsoft Corp., MasterCard, Ping An Insurance Group, Founder Group, Omega, Exxon Mobil and Shenzhen Metro.
Ms. Wei is a veteran media buyer in Greater China. Most recently, she was CEO of OMG's Opera division in China, which manages trading-related operations for OMD and PHD, a company she joined just five months ago.
In other moves, UM hired Sophy Su as general manager of its Guangzhou office, responsible for developing UM's business in southern China; Venkat Kotamaraju as national client services director in Shanghai; and Jimmy Kuo as a planning director in Beijing.
