Viral Video Chart: NBA Content Takes Off on Web
What People Watched the Week of May 18, 2009
NEW YORK (Ad Age.com) -- It's NBA-playoffs time -- and the Viral Video Chart is reflecting that. Last week's big debut, the "Most Valuable Puppets" campaign Wieden & Kennedy created for Nike, tops the chart this week, and the NBA's "Where Amazing Happens" campaign, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, makes its debut at No. 3.
Vodafone's "Make the Most of Now" spot, which dominated the charts the past two weeks, drops, just barely, into the No. 2 spot. Still, its 1 million-plus views for the second week in a row is impressive.
The rest of the chart is largely composed of more-mature campaigns -- T-Mobile "Dance" and Samsung's "Extreme Sheep," which both have exhibited remarkable staying power -- and campaigns marking their return to the chart, including ones from Head, Durex and Kia.

*The Visible Measures Top 10 Viral Video Ad Campaigns Chart focuses on brand-driven viral video ads that appear on online-video-sharing destinations. Each campaign is measured on a True Reach™ basis, which includes viewership of both brand-syndicated video clips and viewer-driven social video placements. The data are compiled using the Visible Measures Viral Reach Database, a constantly growing repository of analytic data on more than 100 million internet videos across more than 150 video-sharing destinations. Note: This analysis does not include Visible Measures' paid-placement (i.e., overlays, pre-/mid-/post-roll) performance data or video views on private sites. This chart does not include movie trailers, video-game campaigns or public service announcements. View-count results are incremental by week. **Indicates percent change in views compared with the same period the week before.
