Comcast Must Die: Part 5

Am I a Whore? Funny You Should Ask.

Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Submit to Digg Add to Google Share on StumbleUpon Submit to LinkedIn Add to Newsvine Bookmark on Del.icio.us Submit to Reddit

Some guy writes to ask me if I'm on the take from some other telecom.

Bob - can you gives us a good faith disclosure that you are not receiving compensation or inducements from another provider of video & broadband services? –Oliver Boulind, New York, NY

These are fighting words, and I'd punch this guy in the nose for questioning my integrity -- except it's not an entirely stupid question. As word-of-mouth guru Andy Sernovitz has discovered, Comcast is so bereft it is paying bloggers to say nice things about its service.

This is from Lutchi, who sells herself for $5 a post: "Pro-blogger ! on my 30's, Pinay at heart living in Georgia. Agriculturist .Cook. Ebay bidder. desperate photographer. part-time digiscrapper. love to eat. brownie addict. computerlizard.serious. wacky.the queen. daughter.sister.mommy of two wild boys. wife of Jonaks.love to learnmore things in life!"

And here is what she has to say about Qualmcast:

Are you still looking for the best internet service provider ? then, don't look too far because COMCAST is here and ready to serve you everything that you need.Comcast, is now the leading provider of high speed internet access, and Comcast Digital Voice. Their broadband internet connection is super fast and even beat that Verizon DSL in numerous speed tests.

And if your tired dealing on paying big on your recent phone plan then you might need to consider using their digital Phone service. Right now, you have 3 plans to choose from starting from $39.95 to $54.95 a month. You can get unlimited local and long-distance calling, three way calling/ Caller ID/waiting, voice mail online, and it works with your existing phone. You can enjoy all their cool features without sacrificing anything because you still get what you got from your previous phone services.

I have to tell Joe, about this phone service because it is a lot cheaper and I am hoping they are available on our area. So guys, why not visit them today and check if Comcast Digital Voice is available in your area. And if you have any questions about anything regarding their services please feel free to contact the customer support for more information.

So sleazy, so pathetic and so unnecessary. If Comcast -- or any other gigantic service provider -- wants good buzz, it can get it in exponentially greater volume for for free. All they have to do is treat customers right.

That doesn't mean being flawless. It just means being responsive, diligent and respectful.

Yeah. As if.

Wow, wow, wow. Our company's rep lives and dies by bloggers (google "media temple"). I can't get my head around how this idea got greenlighted.

Don't "professional" analog marketers ever think about possible fallout and its half-life in google results? They should have spent this money on customer support.

Thanks Bob for starting this movement for fairness - I've come across these postings on other sites in our Worldwide Web... they treat their employees like $H!T so it's no wonder that this top down mentality is carried over to us consumers. Perhaps these comments will humanize the issue in this desensitized corporate controlled world. We need a REVOLUTION to fix this imbalance. So thanks for starting it with your mega-platform.

Perhaps you could look into whether industry-wide bad installation service is a anti-competitive tactic to make everyone fear switching.

Comcast in Miami is notoriously bad. Even the city government can't seem to do anything. Over the years I've amassed a number of real people, their phones and even their mobiles. I am not shy when it comes to contacting everyone whenever I have a problem. That usually does the trick.

Anyone who THINKS that the Comcast cable modem is a great piece of technology, really needs to see the TV ads that ran for Pacific Bell. There were three TV ads in the series and I have them. I will post them to the ComcastMustdie.com site this weekend. Bart Wilson, Voyager 360, Santa Fe NM

Comcast Sucks

I am not a writer or professional activist, but just another person screwed by the out-of-control Comcast machine monopoly.
I do NOT condone violence to resolve problems, and everyone has their own opinions as to Mona "The Hammer" Shaw's actions.
Some of you think she should be imprisoned, some think she is a Hero, others think she did NOT go far enough.
No matter what YOU think, one thing is sure ... If one Internet search turns up over 1 MILLION hits for the words "Comcast Sucks",
then something Really BAD MUST be going on there !!
If a company is rotten from the top down, how can anyone expect the service / cust. service to be anything of value ?
And it's up to US, as consumers, and VOTERS, to either change that or decide to live with it.
NOT through violence, but political power, we hope to force Comcast to either change or 'get out of town'.

I have been protesting with a picket sign, several days a week, with my simple message
www.ComcastSucks.org
which is a website started with the sole intention of getting enough signatures on petitions to get our local Nassau County (Florida) commission to hold hearings to determine if they will revoke the local Comcast franchise.

( ALL of you can do the same in your own localities, but TOGETHER we all have a stronger voice !)
The website www.ComcastSucks.org comes up about #80 on an Internet search list of over 1 Million for the phrase "Comcast
Sucks", which is not bad, but it COULD be number one when you type-in "Comcast" AND "Comcast Sucks".

ANY of you with organizing experience who can help US plan our 'events', please contact me.
Whether you can help with picket signs, website creation and marketing, video productions or just getting the word out, anyone who
wants to help, no matter how small the gesture, is welcomed and appreciated.
And, PLEASE add the www.ComcastSucks.org link to all your social networking sites and friends ... Spread The Word !!.
I can easily envision public meetings and gatherings with enough numbers to "ROCK Comcast's boat" and put the fear of the
Voters in the powers that (supposedly)'oversee' them.

Comcast does not think that a 'grassroots' effort against them can be successful, but we think otherwise.
As you decide what you will do when you read this message, I have one more comment :
"Whether You think You CAN, or whether You think You Can't, either way, You're Right !!!"
(I don't remember who said that, but it's true)

I appreciate you taking the time to read this message and I know all of you are busy with your own lives ...
... THANK You ALL !
PLEASE take the time now to visit the website
www.ComcastSucks.org
and email your comments to me.

I am in agreement with many of the complaints here having experienced many similar atrocities of customer service myself. Let me tell you how I found satisfaction and happiness:

Visit www.ComcastYouSuck.com and you'll see what I mean. Not only does the domain name itself put a smile on my face, there I found the best deal for satellite equipment, installation and programming service.

Whether it's local stations, movie channels or sport packages, you will find it all on satellite. Where do you think Comcast gets their signals?

The guy who installed my package is a local independent contractor who is competing for my repeat business -- not the random selected employee of a dysfunctional faceless corporation.

And if you happen to be seeking high-speed internet in an area restricted to dial-up, the direct satellite service is awesome.
