Virgin has banned public displays of affection at one of its rail stations in the north of England, which attracted a lot of press attention. The company decided kissing was delaying the trains and so put up a "no kissing" sign on the platform and introduced a "kissing zone" outside the station.

Now Mills & Boon, an iconic publisher of romantic novels, has launched a "kiss goodbye to no kissing" protest against the decision with the help of its advertising agency, St Luke's.

As well as a Facebook group and Twitter option, there's a poster campaign with slogans like "Kiss off kissing killjoys," "Why so frigid Virgin" and "It's our right to kiss where we like."
