Consulting and agency services are converging, and often the reason is to help marketers take advantage of ecommerce and data opportunities.
IBM Interactive Experience, a digital marketing services group within IBM, recently acquired digital creative shop Resource/Ammirati, in a deal that indicates a continued convergence of agency services and consulting. Ohio-based Resource is known for its retail and e-commerce expertise, and marks IBM's first agency creative acquisition. Resource/Ammirati shares 75% of its current clients with IBM.
IBM wants to help its clients solve the complex transitions going on as physical retail stores rely more and more on digital tools to help make sales more seamless for consumers. And Resource Ammirati has deep experience in shopper marketing, package design and advertising, while IBM's Watson technology provide robust data and analytical tools.
