Chinese Exports Fall for Sixth-Straight Month

Normandy Madden

Published: May 13, 2009

China's exports, one of the economy's primary drivers, fell 22.6% to $91.94 billion in April 2009 compared to the same month a year earlier, according to the General Administration of Customs. The decline was due to the weakening global economy, the depreciation of major Asian currencies and growing protectionism. Imports also fell, by 23% to $78.8 billion. April was the sixth consecutive month that both exports and imports shrank. Source: Xinhua News Agency

NBC's 'Biggest Loser' Turns Into Biggest Gainer

John Rash

Published: May 13, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS (AdAge.com) -- Sure, Fox's "American Idol" won, but "The Biggest Loser" was the biggest gainer, as the three-hour season-ender of NBC's unlikely reality hit was up 2% over its fall finale and, more tellingly, increased its season average rating 12% in the ad-centric 18-to-49 demographic. Still, the 4.7/13 rating and share was only good enough to put NBC in second place to Fox's 6.1/16. But the network was well above CBS (3.1/8), ABC (1.9/5) and the CW (1.0/3).
