<description><![CDATA[&quot;Few commercial artists can count and many merely put lipstick on a tiny pig.&quot; Elitist much? I&#039;ve worked with writers, editors and illustrators and most of them know how to count. It&#039;s the marketing people that cause all of the trouble.

Tufte has interesting things to say about infographics and chartoons. He&#039;s right. Just look at some of the infographics in USA Today - yuck. But all these years of workshops have swollen his head. Is there an infographic that shows the correlation of ego growth and workshop gross?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Mr. Tufte is simply wrong when saying that Keynote graphics are more elegant than PowerPoint. Just like a creative person learned to use Indesign or Illustrator properly, they can learn to use PowerPoint to make elegant graphics. It really comes down to business. If self-proclaimed full service agencies, really wanted to fully manage a client&#039;s brand, they&#039;d broaden (I&#039;m not saying replace) their service offering to include MS Office design. Think about it. A client spends millions of dollars on advertising and other communications programs, then turns over a PowerPoint template to a sales person to create or say whatever they want. It&#039;s a missed control opportunity. Moreover it&#039;s a missed revenue opportunity for Agencies. Think about the additional revenue stream for agencies if they could just get off their Mac vs. PC. highhorse.
