Viral Medium - 'My iPhone Revolution'
Don't call it a comeback, viral's been here for years. At least that's what Viral Medium, an LA-based subsidiary of Interactive Art Services, is preaching with its latest branding/promotional effort dubbed "My iPhone Revolution." While Apple isn't exclusively involved, per se, that hasn't stopped the LA-based outfit from promoting itself by creating a video contest based around the hotly anticipated product. As the information on the homepage states, "iPhone Revolution" invites budding filmmakers to make their own 2 ½ minute video that's themed around Apple's latest innovation—special effects, great script, cast and all.

While infringement issues come into question, Viral Medium insists this is merely a brand awareness effort that it hopes will show potential clients the potency of viral campaigns. Besides, the company says, it's capitalizing on the creative, user-generated leeway spawned by sites like YouTube, etc.

As for the site itself, a sizeable illustrated iPhone graces the front page, clutched by the hand of an ape. A pre-roll video appearing on the iPhone screen, which splices footage from Planet of the Apes, 2001: A Space Odyssey and VM's own animated apes emphasizes revolution and the overall point of the contest. The best video nets its creator over $15,000 in marketing and promotions courtesy of Viral Medium including seeding, your own exclusive destination site and the opportunity for a contract with VM.
