Agency Brief: The 12 days of A-List

The bad news: The deadline for this year's A-List submissions is actually only 11 days away.

The good news: I won't be writing a ridiculous 12 Days of Christmas-themed poem to get you in the mood for what are sure to be trying days ahead — you procrastinators, you. (Though it would have been fun, right? Shout out to I-Hsien for pointing out that "overworked CD" kinda, sorta rhymes with "partridge in a pear tree").

Though I know it can be an incredibly stressful deadline, it's also an opportunity to truly show us your stuff. Tell us a great story. How did you change a business (or the world) in 2018?

Fresh cycle at Laundry Service
Jordan Fox has been named head of Laundry Service and Cycle, while Leo Macias is joining the agency as its global chief creative officer from DDB Colombia, where he was chief creative officer. Jason Stein, the founder of Laundry Service, departed the company this summer amid a leadership shakeup at the agency, which was acquired by sports sponsorship and management powerhouse Wasserman in 2015.

Global consulting and services company ICF has grouped together its marketing, communications and digital services agencies — including Olson Engage and We Are Vista — to create ICF Next, a global marketing and communications agency. The combined team will be led by former IBM iX general manager and North America leader John Armstrong.

Indie shop Kastner & Partners is changing its name to simply "Kastner." To announce the change, the agency made a video called "Dear Adland," in which employees put up ampersand signs in front of other agency signs, including TBWA and Possible. "To us you aren't just another advertising agency, you're part of the family," the video says. "As we fight the good battles and overcome the daily struggle, we'd like to think we are more than neighbors. It is us and you, and never us only."

On the move…

Shane Atchison, onetime CEO of WPP's Possible, is becoming CEO of Wunderman Thompson in North America, reporting to global CEO Mel Edwards. He was most recently CMO of Domo. As part of the leadership changes following Wunderman and JWT's merger, Wunderman North America CEO Seth Solomons will be moving into a WPP role.

The Martin Agency's Matt Mattox has been promoted to SVP and group planning director, charged with leading the agency's Geico account. He previously served as SVP and group account director.

The 4A's has named Simon Fenwick as EVP of talent engagement and inclusion, overseeing the organization's 4A's Foundation, MAIP and the 4A's High School Program, among other programs. He previously oversaw creative and brand recruiting and diversity initiatives for Facebook.

McGarryBowen has hired Lucia Grillo as its U.S. head of operations, overseeing the agency's three U.S. offices. Grillo was previously a production development director at Droga5.

Vittorio Bonori, who had been global brand president at Publicis Media's Zenith, has been appointed as Publicis Groupe's Italy CEO, reporting to Publicis Media EMEA & APAC CEO Gerry Boyle.

IPG brand experience agency Jack Morton has named chief client officer Craig Millon (previously an EVP on the executive team), U.S. president Edward Scott (previously holding senior positions in Sydney, Hong Kong and San Francisco) and EVP and global head of production Sharon Crichton, who rejoins the company from George P. Johnson, where she was VP of live production and operations.

Deutsch has hired Martin Mannion as SVP and director of professional strategy. He joins from Guidemark Health where he was EVP and chief strategy officer.

Berlin Cameron has hired Jamie Silverman (previously an associate creative director at Publicis Groupe) as creative director and Anne St. Pierre (previously a senior strategy consultant at Barbarian) is joining as group strategy director.

Forsman & Bodenfors has hired Kristin Maverick as director of engagement. She was previously at David Yurman as a senior director of digital marketing.
