Dan Lucey joins Joan Creative as executive creative director and the agency's first equity partner, after six years as ECD at BBDO leading the Foot Locker, Priceline and Guinness accounts. The move comes a little over a year after his former creative partner Chris Beresford-Hill left BBDO to become chief creative officer at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York.
Previously, Lucey was a creative director at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners running the Google and Comcast accounts. He has also held positions at Saatchi & Saatchi N.Y. and Mad Dogs & Englishmen, where he had worked with Joan co-founder Jaime Robinson. His portfolio includes celebrated work like "Wheelchair Basketball" for Guinness and "Talking Stain" for Tide.
DDB San Francisco hires Regina Scolaro as digital director. She joins from Edelman S.F., where she was VP of planning. She also ran her own agency in the Bay Area launching tech start-ups and e-commerce companies and has worked with brands like Starbucks, Toyota, Fidelity, Dow Chemical, Mazda and Logitech. Scolaro is also an authority on cryptocurrency and blockchain, and she volunteers with Bytes for Bits, a nonprofit tackling gender and socioeconomic inequality in tech.
Karl Velasco joins Cult as group creative head of fashion & beauty in both London and New York City. Most recently, he freelanced with clients such as John Lewis, Carolina Herrera, The White Company, Marks and Spencer, Ocado and Dulux. Previosuly, he was a creative director at Dazed Media and deputy creative director at John Brown Media Group, working with clients like Jamie Oliver and Aston Martin.
EP&Co promotes and hires 12 employees: Director, Brand and Channel Strategy Chris Plating, Managing Director Karen Mawhinney and Managing Director Kat Shafer are all now executive vice presidents. Director, Content Production Danny Miller and Director, Production & Business Systems Ops Vicky Gonzalez are now SVPs. All five join the executive leadership team. Group Account Director Carolyn Philips is now an svp, and Executive Content Producer Charlotte Stirrup, Planning Director Emily Rule, Senior Business Affairs Manager Jeff Fischer, Director for Creative Technology Leslie Scott and Director of Communications Rebecca Lynch are now VPs. Terra Reilly joins consultancy Rain as managing director of the Utah office, and Eric Turkington becomes VP of strategic partnerships in the Seattle office. Both are newly-created positions. Previously, Reilly worked at MRM//McCann on clients like Cisco, USPS, Fitbit, Exxon, Sam's Club and Verizon. Turkington joins after three years at Fahrenheit 212 and has worked on marketing and comms programs for clients including Citi, MetLife, Novartis and Mondelez.
