MediaCom Appoints U.S. CEO

Savic Takes New Role at Media Agency, Brings Extensive P&G Experience

WPP's MediaCom has hired Sasha Savic as its U.S. CEO, a newly created role under North America CEO and worldwide Chief Operating Officer Harvey Goldhersz. Mr. Savic will join the firm this spring.

"Ever since I became CEO of MediaCom North America a year ago, I knew I wanted to name a CEO for our U.S. operations," Mr. Goldhersz said in a statement. "I'm very happy to announce today that we've found precisely the right person for this important new position. Sasha is a strategic thinker and innovator with exactly the kind of extensive media agency credentials that MediaCom needs to lead our U.S. operation as we plan for 2012 and beyond."

Mr. Savic serves as chief operating officer for MPG parent Havas Media Group North America, overseeing U.S. and Canada. But the Bosnia native wasn't always so U.S.-focused. He managed Procter & Gamble assignments in over 70 countries when he was at Publicis' Starcom MediaVest Group from 2006-2010. He also spent a bulk of his career in Europe, when he was working at Interpublic Group of Cos.' UM.

For Group M, it's one more senior executive with P&G experience. Marla Kaplowitz, who replaced Lee Doyle as North America CEO at MEC in October, had lead the P&G planning assignment for North America at MediaVest, prior to joining MEC in March.

Last January, Mr. Goldhersz took over as North American CEO, succeeding Doug Checkeris. Since his appointment, the firm lost its $800 million Warner Bros account, but it also brought in a handful of new accounts such as the $300 million U.S. Bayer business, the U.S. Tourism account and the Universal Music Group assignment.

Stephen Allan continues to serve as MediaCom Worldwide CEO.
