NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Four agencies will advance in Pennzoil's ad agency review, according to executives familiar with the situation.
The contenders going to the next stage are two Interpublic Group of Cos. agencies, Deutsch, Los Angeles, and Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., and Omnicom Group's TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, Calif. They will compete for the business against the incumbent, Omnicom's GSD&M, Austin, Texas.

GSD&M, which has had the account since 1996, retains Pennzoil's approximately $20 million media planning and buying account.
Houston-based Pennzoil has declined to discuss the size of the creative account. Consultant Roth Associates, New York, is handling the review.
A decision is planned for late March.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the review was narrowed to three and that GSD&M had been eliminated.
