Square One bested finalists Richards Group, Dallas; Fogarty Klein Monroe, Houston; and Omnicom Group's Spot Plus, Dallas.
Dillard's handles creative in-house, and Square One will handle some creative projects.
Separately, Square One also won an estimated $5 million to $10 million branding, advertising and media assignment for Cargill Turkey Products' Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms brands.
Finalists in that review were incumbent agencies Omnicom's TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York, O'Connor Kenny Partners, Memphis, Tenn., and one other undisclosed agency, a Cargill spokesman confirmed. He said Cargill consolidated its agencies after it acquired Rocco Enterprise's turkey business in September.
The wins boost the independent agency's billings nearly 50%, to $200 million from $130 million in 2000, and gross income up 39%, to $17.6 million from $12.7 million in 2000, said Ernie Capobianco, Square One's chief operating officer.
Other clients on the agency's roster include Miller Brewing Co., Whataburger and Dr Pepper/Seven Up.
