Heavenly Father

By Published on .

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that nationwide, 60 percent of males over the age of 15 are fathers. And on average each of those men claims paternal rights to 1.6 children. As we gear up to celebrate Father's Day this month, we took a look at some lesser-known facts about dear old dad. For starters, did you know that dads are more likely than men in general to enter a triathlon, and play ice hockey and soccer? Of course they're also more likely to use muscle strain remedies. 1 Coincidence? Such occupational hazards seem to do little to deter young men from wanting to be dads themselves someday. In fact, 86 percent of male high school seniors dream of having children of their own. 2 Unfortunately, not all men are born to be fathers. It's estimated that 1 in every 25 men suffer from infertility and another 500,000 elect to have a vasectomy every year. To those men who are willing and able, we salute you.
