Gill Foundation "Turnout"

Published on .

This award-winning campaign shed light on the guts it takes for gays to come out even today. Aiming to increase gay voter participation, the series of documentary spots, expertly captured by The Oil Factory's Doug Pray, follows real people on the verge of coming out at the workplace, in states where they have no legal recourse against workplace discrimination. The final outcome isn't shown on the tube, but viewers are directed to to find out what happens. The effort drew its inspiration from the history books, according to senior writer Eric Gutierrez and senior AD Jason Stanfield. "In our concepting phase, we realized there's probably no moment in the Civil Rights era that better illuminated white folks than the Rosa Parks bus incident. Her small act of courage served as a great national commercial for civil rights."
