Naples, Fla.—Frank Anton, CEO of construction publishing company Hanley Wood, was named 2007-2008 chairman of American Business Media at the opening day of ABM’s Spring Meeting 2007 at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples. He succeeded 2006-2007 Chairman Michael Marchesano, exec. VP-chief transformation officer of Nielsen Co.

Anton, who had double-bypass heart surgery late last week and is not attending the meeting, has been CEO of Hanley Wood since 2005, when he succeeded co-founder Mike Wood. He has continued Hanley Wood’s dual strategy of growing both organically and through acquisition.

ABM also approved the following executive officers for the coming year:

—Gary Fitzgerald, president of Meister Media Worldwide, was named vice chairman.
—Bob Carrigan, president of IDG Communications, who was named secretary.
—Peggy Walker, president-COO of Vance Publishing, was named treasurer. Walker is the first woman to be named to ABM’s executive committee. Last December, Walker oversaw the restructuring of Vance to boost its online operations.
