ABM seeks to overturn FCC fax rule

New York--American Business Media on Monday afternoon filed a request with the Federal Communications Commission, seeking to overturn the rule that only a signed document will satisfy the agency's requirement for permission to send commercial faxes. The effective date of that rule was recently postponed from this month until Jan. 1, 2005. Despite the postponement, as of Aug. 25 companies still need "express invitation or permission" in some form from the recipient in order to send commercial faxes.
